Mombasa City & Old Town Tour
Five hundred years of Swahili, Portuguese, Omani and British coastline
- Day trip
Mombasa's old town is narrow, carved-doored and still lived in. Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese in 1593 and fought over for the next three centuries, anchors the whole thing. A half day covers the essentials; a full day adds Haller Park or the spice market.

- The old town's carved Swahili doors, balconies and spice shops
- The Akamba wood-carving cooperative
